Temporary closure of Gawler rail line

Tuesday, 3 June 2025
The Gawler rail line will temporarily close this weekend from first service Saturday, 7 June to last service Monday, 9 June to safely allow maintenance works.
During this temporary full line closure, train services will not operate between Adelaide Railway Station and Gawler Central Railway Station. Substitute buses will service the line, replacing all train services during the closure.
The temporary closure is necessary for crews to undertake routine maintenance works along the line, which cannot be safely undertaken with trains operating in the rail corridor or while the overhead wires are energised.
Services will resume as normal on the Gawler line from first service Tuesday, 10 June.
The timing of the rail line closure has been carefully considered to avoid impact on weekday peak services.
Commuters are being encouraged to plan their journey in advance and allow some extra time as the substitute bus service will take longer than the regular train service.
Adelaide Metro apologises for the inconvenience during this temporary closure, and thanks commuters for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
