Reconciliation
We recognise the special place and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians. We value the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and are committed to providing equal opportunities for all South Australians, thereby realising Reconciliation Australia’s vision.
Reconciliation involves justice, recognition and healing. It is about helping Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians move forward with a better understanding of the past and how the past affects the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today. Reconciliation involves symbolic recognition of the honoured place of the first Australians, as well as practical measures to address the disadvantage experienced by Indigenous people in health, employment, education and general opportunity.
- Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
Our Stretch RAP represents our formal commitment to ongoing, meaningful and genuine reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with specific and measurable goals and targets.
