Prevention of violence

We are committed to preventing violence. Our structures, strategies and policies promote respect, gender equality and equity.

Our approach

We promote the prevention of violence through a range of strategies, commitments and partnerships.

White Ribbon workplace accreditation

White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation

We have been a proud White Ribbon Accredited Workplace since 2016.

A message from our Chief Executive, Jon Whelan

Our White Ribbon accreditation shows our commitment to:

  • respect and gender equality
  • creating a safe workplace for everyone

We all play an important role in speaking out against gender-based violence. As part of this, we must foster a safe environment for our people, customers and partners.

We commit to maintaining our White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation. Violence, disrespect and discrimination has no place in our Department.

Our agency was one of the first to take part in, and receive, White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation in 2016. We were also one of the first to gain reaccreditation in 2020.

In 2025, we achieved workplace accreditation again. This achievement recognises our ongoing commitment and leadership in preventing gender-based violence and promoting gender equality for everyone.

Employment conditions

We embed respect, gender equality and fairness in how we:

  • recruit
  • pay
  • promote
  • develop
  • train.

Workplace culture

We want everyone to feel safe and confident working with us. We challenge gender stereotypes, roles and norms. Anyone can raise concerns about gender inequality, disrespect and discrimination without adverse consequences.

Our people can use flexible work options without prejudice or negative consequences.

Professional and workplace support

We support anyone affected by violence and unacceptable behaviours through our:

  • structures
  • practices
  • culture.

Our values

The work we do and the way we promote it aligns with our commitment to:

  • respect
  • gender equality
  • fairness
  • preventing violence at work.

Zahra Foundation partnership

We are a proud partner of the Zahra Foundation.

The Zahra Foundation is a not-for-profit that supports women not just to escape domestic abuse, but to thrive.

This partnership:

  • reinforces our commitment to supporting employees and creating a safe workplace culture
  • supports our ongoing White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation journey.

Hear from our people

We are proud to be a White Ribbon Accredited Workplace. We strive to lead the way in preventing domestic family and sexual violence.

The video features:

  • Ashleigh Easthope and Scott Bailey, members of our Domestic and Family Violence Community of Practice.
