COVID-19 update – impact on train services

5 January 2022

Adelaide metro customers are advised a small number of scheduled train services are being impacted by COVID-19.

Adelaide Metro is working closely with train operator Keolis Downer to minimise the number of services affected, but unfortunately COVID-19 guidelines – such as SA Health isolation requirements – have resulted in unforeseen changes to scheduling.

All efforts to minimise passenger disruption are being undertaken, including avoiding service changes during peak times where possible. Adelaide Metro apologises for any inconvenience felt by customers.

Any change to services will be promoted as early as possible to give customers time to plan their journey. This will include updates on the Adelaide Metro website and social media, as well as at stations via information screens, public announcements and customer service officers.

Adelaide Metro is continuing regular discussions with all service providers across trains, trams and buses to monitor the impacts of COVID-19.

The 2022 summer holiday timetable, currently in place until 30 January, gives service providers more roster flexibility should drivers test positive to COVID-19 or be required to isolate. It also coincides with a significant but traditional 20 per cent drop in transport patronage this time of year. There has been a further reduction in passengers as more commuters opt to work from home.

Help keep us all safe

Passengers are reminded to stay home if they are feeling unwell and to social distance where possible when using public transport.

Passengers are also still required to check-in using QR codes and wear face masks while on-board or waiting at a stop or station.

All public transport passengers, staff and the broader South Australian community are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated and continue to follow SA Health advice.
