Night works for South Eastern Freeway Managed Motorway Project

Friday, 8 May 2020

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises motorists that night works as part of the South Eastern Freeway Managed Motorway Project will commence Sunday, 10 May, for approximately two weeks.

Works will be undertaken on the South Eastern Freeway between Crafers and Stirling from 7pm until 6am each night from Sunday to Thursday.

Works may also be undertaken on Friday and Saturday nights if required. These works are anticipated to be completed by Wednesday, 27 May, weather permitting.

The South Eastern Freeway will remain open to traffic at all times, with one lane open in each direction during night works. Temporary on and off ramp closures will be in place while line marking is being undertaken, however access to and from the freeway will be maintained at either Crafers or Stirling at all times. There will not be any concurrent closures of on-ramps. VMS signage will be in place to direct motorists.

Excavators, tippers, and handheld compaction equipment will be used during these works, and some noise can be expected while these works are completed. However the work will be managed to minimise disruption as much as practically possible.

Motorists are asked to please plan ahead and allow extra travel time, take extra care when workers are on site, and observe speed and lane restrictions and signage when travelling through the area.

The department appreciates your patience and cooperation whilst these important works are undertaken.

The South Eastern Freeway Managed Motorway Project is jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian Governments and will convert the existing emergency lane into a third full time travel lane and implement a Managed Motorway on both the up and down tracks of the freeway between Crafers and Stirling. It will enable the allocation and control of lanes across the freeway to improve safety and traffic flow.
