Darlington asphalting works

As part of the Darlington Upgrade Project, asphalting and construction works will be undertaken from 6am, Monday, 27 April to 6am, Monday, 4 May, weather permitting.

6am, Monday, 27 April until 6am, Monday, 4 May

The junction of Laffer Drive and Sturt Road will be temporarily closed, with access to Laffer Drive (south of the new Flinders Drive extension) and Hugh Cairns Avenue maintained via Main South Road, with the following traffic arrangements in place:

  • Eastbound motorists on Sturt Road will be required to turn right onto Main South Road southbound at the Sturt Road Bridge, then turn right at the Flinders Drive Bridge onto the new Flinders Drive extension between Main South Road and Laffer Drive
  • Westbound motorists on Sturt Road will be required to turn left onto Main South Road southbound at the Sturt Road Bridge, then turn right at the Flinders Drive Bridge onto the new Flinders Drive extension between Main South Road and Laffer Drive
  • Northbound motorists on Main South Road will be required to undertake a U-turn at the Sturt Road Bridge and then a right turn across the Flinders Drive Bridge onto the new Flinders Drive extension between Main South Road and Laffer Drive
  • Southbound motorists on Main South Road will be required to turn right across the Flinders Drive Bridge onto the new Flinders Drive extension between Main South Road and Laffer Drive
  • Exit from Laffer Drive (south of the new Flinders Drive extension) and Hugh Cairns Avenue will only be via the new Flinders Drive extension between Main South Road and Laffer Drive onto Main South Road.

Bus Stop 27A on Laffer Drive will be temporarily closed, with Stop 28 on Sturt Road available as an alternative. Routes affected are: 300, 300G, 320, G10, 600, 601, 720H. Please visit the Adelaide Metro website for further information: www.adelaidemetro.com.au

8pm, Friday, 1 May until 6am, Monday, 4 May

Sturt Road, between Laffer Drive and Bradley Grove, will be temporarily restricted with the following traffic arrangements in place:

  • Laffer Drive will remain closed to all traffic and will reopen at 6am, Monday, 4 May
  • Bradley Grove will be closed to traffic except emergency services vehicles and buses
  • Birch Crescent will be left in and left out during these works
  • Traffic will be reduced to a single lane through the work zone.

12am – 5am, Monday, 4 May

The Service Road will be closed at the junction with Flinders Drive except for emergency services vehicles entering the Service Road. Motorists wanting to enter or exit the Service Road will be required to detour via University Drive.

Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained at all times during these works, with traffic controllers on site to assist.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time and take extra care when workers are on site. Observe speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area.
