Safety to be improved on roads in the Limestone Coast area

Works have commenced to improve safety on various sections of roads in the Limestone Coast Area with more than 10km of surfacing works.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) is undertaking pavement surfacing works to improve the surface quality and extend the life of the road at the following locations:

• Riddoch Highway, approx. 17km South of Tarpeena, for 1.6km
• Frances Road, Frances Township South, for 2.2km
• Frances Road, approx. 2km South of Frances, for 0.6km
• Princes Highway, approx. 6km East of Mount Gambier, for 0.9km
• Princes Highway, approx. 11km East of Mount Gambier, for 4.3km
• Princes Highway, intersection of Myora and Hutchesson Roads, approx. 15km East of Mount Gambier, for 0.1km
• Princes Highway, approx. 16km East of Mount Gambier, for 1.2km

The work will be undertaken between 7.00 am and 5.30 pm Monday to Sunday, with expected completion in March, weather permitting.

The road will remain open to traffic with minor lane restrictions and a 25 km/h speed restriction will apply when workers are on site, with a maximum 80 km/h speed restriction being in place until the reinstatement of the pavement marking is complete.

The safety of workers and the general public is paramount so please take care when travelling through work zones.

The works are being carried out at an estimated cost of $920,000 as part of the State Government’s Periodic Road Maintenance Program.
