Semaphore Jetty upgrade works commence this month
Friday, 18 May 2018
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) is upgrading the heritage-listed Semaphore Jetty this winter.
The upgrade will:
- maintain the jetty’s long-term structural integrity
- continue to provide a safe jetty for all users
- enhance the existing public facilities including a new shelter.
The jetty will be partially closed from late May to late July 2018.
Stage One of construction works will occur on the jetty approach where the front section of the jetty will be closed but public access will still be available at the end of the jetty via steps midway along the beach.
Stage Two of the works will involve the construction of a new shelter at the end of the jetty when the end section of the jetty will be closed but the front section will remain open to the public.
The majority of construction work will be undertaken during the day and if some night works are required, adjacent residents and businesses will be provided with advance notice.
This project forms part of the South Australian Government’s $3.4 million Marine Jetties Program.
By maintaining the long-term structural integrity of our jetties we can ensure they remain open to all users for many years to come.
