On your marks, get set, go with Adelaide Metro
Monday, 9 September 2024
Adelaide Metro will help set the pace at the Lumary City-Bay Fun Run this Sunday, 15 September as more than 26,000 participants hit their strides in the event’s 50th running.
Getting to the start line of your chosen race distance is no sweat, with competitors able to enjoy free travel between Glenelg and the city on all trams and event bus shuttles from 5am to 2pm. Simply show your race day bib when boarding to receive free travel.
Trams will run into the city from 5.20am to 7.30am, departing from Stop 15 on Brighton Road every 7 to 10 minutes and stopping near the 3km, 6km, and 12km start lines.
Pre-race shuttle buses will leave from a temporary stop at Wigley Reserve between 5.30am to 8am, and from Maxwell Terrace between 6am and 8am. Half marathon competitors can ride direct from North Terrace at 5.15am to Wigley Reserve, ahead of an earlier 6am race start.
Participants are encouraged to leave plenty of time to get to their chosen starting point, with pre-race public transport to King William Street finishing at approximately 7.30am.
Post-race trams will depart at high frequency between 10am and 2pm from Stop 15 Brighton Road with shuttle buses running people back into the city from Wigley Reserve and Maxwell Terrace between 9am and 1pm.
To ensure a safe event, no trams will operate between South Terrace and Adelaide Railway Station, the Botanic Gardens and Festival Plaza from 7.30am to after 10.30am.
Substitute bus services will operate between South Terrace and Kintore Avenue, outside the State Library, while King William Street is closed.
Trams will resume usual running from Moseley Square from 2.20pm once Jetty Road is reopened.
Some road closures will also be necessary, particularly along Anzac Highway and Jetty Road. Roads will progressively close from 4.30am and reopen as participants make their way to Glenelg. Please follow the directions of traffic controllers and allow extra time when travelling.
