More local car clubs to benefit from cash boost
Thursday, 23 November 2023
Car and motorcycle clubs will receive another boost as the South Australian Car Club Program gears up for round two.
The $2 million program – the first of its kind in South Australia – aims to fuel the expansion plans for car and motorcycle clubs, including assisting them to host bigger and better events while meeting rising operating costs and managing their role within the conditional registration scheme.
The first round of grants, awarded in June 2023, saw a share of $500,000 awarded to support the Festival of Motorcycling, the BSA Motorcycle 60th International Rally and the 2024 Porsche Easter Nationals.
Renovations to the club room facilities of the Port Pirie Motorcycle Club and Mount Gambier Veteran and Vintage Car Club were turbocharged while the Collingrove Hillclimb Track will also receive an upgrade.
As part of the State Government’s ongoing commitment to accelerating the growth of motorsport communities, round two will provide eligible clubs with funding to:
- Purchase new safety and operational equipment
- Host state and national events
- Train instructors, officials, administrators, and volunteers
- Boost female participation rates.
Eligible clubs must be a not-for-profit organisation operating for 12 months or longer.
There are more than 200 recognised motoring clubs in South Australia. The program will provide $500,000 worth of grants per year, over four years.
Applications for round two of the SA Car Club Program are now open, and close at midday 22 December 2023.
