Tap and Pay on O-Bahn buses now the easy way to ride
Wednesday, 23 November 2022
Passengers can now tap and pay with their credit card on Adelaide Metro O-Bahn buses, in a big win for customer convenience.
The new option has been rolled out on O-Bahn buses – in addition to the existing MetroCard system – as part of Adelaide Metro’s network-wide, staged ticketing upgrade that will improve the travel experience and make public transport more accessible by offering customers easier ways to pay.
Adelaide Metro successfully trialled contactless electronic Mastercard and Visa payments on trams in 2020. Now that the option is being added to O-Bahn buses, the next stage will be to extend Tap and Pay options across all buses, followed by the train network.
Tap and pay fares will be charged as a regular MetroCARD fare (Peak or Off-peak) and be valid for two hours.
Transfers with a tap and pay fare are limited to O-Bahn buses, trams and outbound trains from the Adelaide Railway Station.
Customers can choose the payment option that best suits them.

MetroCARD remains the best option for regular commuters, especially those eligible for a concession fare and/or need to transfer between buses, trams and trains.
Seniors Card is the best option for eligible seniors, offering free travel with Adelaide Metro at all times.
