Rail R U OK?Day: I wonder how my workmate is doing
Wednesday, 29 April 2020
A simple train of thought, wondering how a workmate is doing, can be turned into a meaningful conversation that conversation starts easily with the simple question “are you ok?”.
DPTI Rail staff know better than anyone how important it is to check in with each other, with the pressures they face as part of their day-to-day work life.
Ahead of Rail R U OK?Day on 30 April), R U OK? is calling on all of us to stay connected, lend an ear and provide support to those who need it as we navigate these challenging times.
If you’re worried about someone, you can find conversation tips and information about available support services at on the RU OK website.
In the current climate this might mean picking up the phone or talking face to face while keeping social distancing guidelines in place.
South Australian Public Transport Authority Executive Director Anne Alford would like to see everyone have each other’s back, to ask how people are, and to listen and show support every day.
"It’s now more important than ever that we promote a sense of community, reach out and ask our friends, family and workmates and ask, 'are you ok?', Anne said.
Rail R U OK?Day is an annual initiative from the TrackSAFE Foundation and R U OK? to encourage the entire rail industry to have this conversation regularly.
