Paringa Bridge reopened for long weekend
Friday, 10 March 2023
The Paringa Bridge on the Sturt Highway has reopened and resumed lifting operations in time for the Adelaide Cup long weekend.
Repair works on the Paringa Bridge as part of the flood recovery program have been undertaken over the past two weeks and will ensure the ongoing structural integrity and longevity of the bridge.
The lifting-span function, which allows houseboats and other vessels to pass under the bridge, had not been operated since December 2022 due to flooding. It has been cleared to resume operations following service works, while repairs on the bridge beams are also progressing.
Some minor works will be carried out on the bridge from 7am on Tuesday, 14 March until 7pm on Thursday, 16 March 2023.
During these works, the Sturt Highway over the Paringa Bridge will remain open with traffic reduced to a single lane. Traffic management and speed restrictions will be in place in the vicinity of the works. These works will not impact the lifting of the bridge.
Road users are asked to please plan ahead, expect delays, allow extra travel time and take extra care when workers are on site. Observe speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area.
The Department appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are undertaken.
