Temporary partial night closures of the Gawler line for Ovingham Railway Station upgrade works
Monday, 12 September 2022
The Gawler rail line will be partially closed on select Saturday and Sunday nights during September and October 2022, to safely facilitate upgrade works at Ovingham Railway Station.
The works will include concrete pouring, painting and lighting installation and cannot be undertaken safely with trains operating in the rail corridor.
Gawler line services will not be running between Adelaide Railway Station and Mawson Interchange Railway Station in both directions, from 9pm until last service each Saturday and Sunday night from 17 September to 16 October 2022 (excluding the October long-weekend on 1-3 October 2022).
Trains will resume normal running from first-service Sunday and Monday morning respectively throughout the partial closure period.
During these partial closures, Gawler line services will continue to run as usual between Mawson Interchange and Gawler Central Railway Stations, with substitute buses to operate between Adelaide and Mawson Interchange Railway Stations to allow passengers to continue their journey.
The works at Ovingham Railway Station have been scheduled at night and on the weekend to minimise the impact on commuters.
Freight trains will continue to operate during these closures.
Adelaide Metro apologies for any inconvenience and thanks commuters for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
Passengers are encouraged to visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au to check their timetable in real time and plan their trip with Adelaide Metro’s journey planner.
