Temporary closure of the Old Murray Bridge
Friday, 24 May 2019
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that the Old Murray Bridge will be temporarily closed between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Tuesday, 28 May and Thursday, 30 May, for essential maintenance works.
To maintain the longevity of the 140 year old bridge, jacking of the bridge will be required to undertake the majority of the work, including maintenance of the bridge bearings.
Detours will be in place via the Swanport Bridge on the South Eastern Freeway, with signage in place to advise motorists.
There will also be temporary footpath closures on either side of the bridge to undertake minor maintenance works, however pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained at all times. Signage will be in place to indicate footpath closures.
Emergency services will have access to the bridge during the closures.
DPTI thanks bridge users for their patience while these important works are carried out.
