Oaklands bridge open for use
Thursday, 20 December 2018
The shared pedestrian and cyclist bridge, as part of the Oaklands Crossing Grade Separation Project, is now open to the public.
The bridge provides commuters and residents with additional access to the existing railway station and surrounding area.
The bridge was constructed off-site by SA family business Bowhill Engineering, who are also constructing the canopy for the new station.
The project has been working on assembling the bridge since October when it arrived on site and was lifted into place in early November.
When the new rail corridor is installed, the bridge will sit 5.4 metres above the rail line to provide pedestrian and cyclist access across the new underpass, at the eastern end of the station.
