Gawler late night rail closure for works for the Gawler Rail Electrification Project

UPDATE: This late night closure of the Gawler rail line for the Gawler Rail Electrification Project has been extended for a further two Sunday nights:
- Sunday 23 September
- Sunday 7 October
Train services will be replaced with substitute buses between Mawson Lakes and Adelaide from 10.30pm.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that partial, late night Gawler rail line closures will take place to allow for preliminary works as part of the Gawler Rail Electrification Project.
The Gawler line will be closed from 9pm until last service between Adelaide and Mawson Lakes on the following consecutive Sundays:
- 5 August
- 12 August
- 19 August
- 26 August
- 2 September
- 9 September
- 16 September.
Substitute buses will operate between the Adelaide and Mawson Lakes railway stations, with train services running between Mawson Lakes and Gawler Central railway stations each night from approximately 9:00pm until last service.
The following train services will be replaced by substitute buses.

The closure is to facilitate boring underneath the rail line and the installation of conduits, and has been timed to minimise the impact to the public and on major events including AFL matches.
Additional bus capacity will be on standby for the AFL match at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, 19 August and for the two Sundays of the Royal Show on 2 and 9 September to cater for any additional late night demand generated by these events.
