Improved Bike’n’Ride facilities for Adelaide Metro
Monday, 16 April 2018
Works for the installation and upgrade of bike cages at key locations on the Adelaide Metro network have commenced.
Bike cages are a budget friendly way to allow customers a secure place to leave their bike at their stop or station.
As part of the works, the existing bike cages located at Klemzig Interchange and Hallett Cove Beach Railway Station will be upgraded this month.
The bike cage at Klemzig Interchange will be doubled in size to accommodate demand for commuters using the O-Bahn bus service and the Hallett Cove Beach cage will have a secure door and card reader installed.
Following these upgrade works, a secure bike cage with the capacity for 16 bikes will be constructed at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Tram Stop to encourage more cycling and the convenient use of public transport.
Works are expected to be completed by mid-2018, weather permitting.
Bike cage facilities have CCTV, lighting, and include additional bike parking rails outside the cage.
Secure bike cages are currently available at the following locations:
- Adelaide Airport
- Elizabeth Station
- Gawler Station
- Hallett Cove Beach Station
- Klemzig Interchange
- Mount Barker Dumas Street Park 'n' Ride
- Munno Para Station
- Noarlunga Interchange
- Paradise Interchange
- Seaford Station
- Seaford Meadows Station
- Tea Tree Plaza Interchange
The cages operate on the metroCARD system free of charge and can be added to registered metroCARD cardholder accounts by calling the Adelaide Metro InfoLine on 1300 311 108 or visiting an Adelaide Metro InfoCentre.
