More room to overtake and rest along Sturt Highway

Motorists are enjoying a safer and easier drive along the Sturt Highway thanks to the addition of a new overtaking lane, new rest areas and other road repairs.
The new overtaking lane is approximately 20km east of Truro and it will assist drivers to safely overtake slower moving vehicles.
In addition to this upgrade, the Sturt Highway has been repaired and rehabilitated between Stonefield Road and Bower Boundary Road.
Two new eastbound rest areas have also been constructed at Shea-Oak Log and Annadale.
These upgrades will improve safety and freight efficiency, and support regional economic growth.
Previous works along the Sturt Highway included new eastbound and westbound overtaking lanes near Stockyard Plains and a new eastbound overtaking lane east of Waikerie. These upgrades were completed in 2023.
The $87.5 million Sturt Highway Corridor Upgrade is jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments (80:20) and has supported approximately 95 full-time-equivalent jobs during construction.
