Gather Round three votes: Adelaide Metro’s Footy Express
Wednesday, 3 April 2024
Gather ‘round free public transport as the festival of footy kicks off from 4-7 April.
As over 250,000 fans and 18 teams warm up for a massive four days, the footy faithful are encouraged to leave the car at home and let Adelaide Metro do the driving to all nine games.
Gather Round ticketholders can travel for free on Footy Express and Adelaide Metro services, while dedicated shuttle buses will run fans from the city, Norwood and Mount Barker - and home again safely - across the weekend.
Fans heading to the Hills can catch the City-Mt Barker shuttle from King William Road, opposite the Maccas Footy Festival. Locals can get to the Summit Sport and Recreation Park using the Mount Barker Park ‘n’ Ride Loop Bus Shuttle service.
Simply show a valid game day ticket and board for free from midday to last service on Thursday 4 April and Friday 5 April, and all day Saturday and Sunday 6-7 April.
For fans exploring Adelaide, using a metroCARD remains the best option to transfer to other services or travel with a concession fare. Tap and Pay tickets are an alternative for interstate fans and those on a full adult fare who don’t use public transport often.
Map your Gather Round journey here or visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au to check your timetable in real time.
Springs Road and Heysen Boulevard, Mount Barker, will be closed on Saturday and Sunday while The Parade, Norwood, will be closed on Sunday for the Food & Wine Festival.
With other local road closures expected, plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling: Traffic SA.
