Tuesday, 16 May 2023
The South Australian Government has committed more than $405,000 towards upgrading six aerodromes across regional South Australia.
Projects in Lock, Port Lincoln, Lucindale, Ceduna, Wudinna and Port Augusta will receive grants as part of Round 8 of the South Australian Support Regional Aviation Program.
Funding will enable a range of projects in 2023-2024, including runway and apron resealing, and lighting upgrades.
The six successful applicants and projects are:
- District Council of Elliston: Lock Aerodrome – replacement of gable markers
- District Council of Lower Eyre Peninsula: Port Lincoln Airport – terminal and carpark lighting upgrade
- Naracoorte Lucindale Council: Lucindale Airstrip – Country Fire Service airbase upgrade
- District Council of Ceduna: Ceduna Airport – resealing of apron and taxiway
- Wudinna District Council: Wudinna Aerodrome – resealing of runway, taxiway and apron
- City of Port Augusta: Port Augusta Airport – stormwater upgrade.
The South Australian Government contributes funding through the program towards infrastructure improvements in the regional aerodrome network.
Funded programs improve safety and accessibility, help regional aerodromes comply with regulatory requirements, accommodate for different sized aircraft, support the growth of regional aviation markets, and deliver regional economic and social benefits through improved air services.
