Funding secured for three northern aerodrome upgrades
Tuesday, 20 December 2022
The South Australian Government has contributed more than $230,000 in funding towards three regional aerodromes under the Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program.
Three successful applicants secured funding from the Australian Government as part of the program, which was then matched by the South Australian Government.
Projects in Innamincka, Marree and Glendambo have received grants for upgrades including the installation of new fencing and lighting.
The successful applicants and projects are:
- Innamincka Progress Association: Innamincka Aerodrome – Installation of stock proof fencing, permanent emergency solar lighting and aircraft tie downs
- Marree Progress Association: Marree Aerodrome – Upgrade existing perimeter fence to animal proof fence
- Outback Communities Authority: Glendambo Aerodrome – Upgrade of solar-powered ground lighting.
The program was established to provide funding to aerodromes in remote locations to undertake works for essential access and safety.
