Notice to Mariners No. 41 of 2024
SOUTH AUSTRALIA – SPENCER GULF – LUCKY BAY – NEW PORT AND HARBOR – INCLUDING 2 x NEW TRANSHIPMENT POINTS
Mariners are advised that a new Port and Harbor called Port Lucky Bay has been declared on the East coast of Eyre Peninsula within the Spencer Gulf
The Lucky Bay Port and Harbor area is bounded as follows:
Encompassing all waters within the boundary. Commencing at the Medium High Water Mark at a point being 33° 42’ 25” S - 137° 03’ 08” E then south-easterly along the Port/ Harbor Limit boundary to a point being at 33° 43′ 47″ S - 137° 04′ 40″ E and, then southerly along the eastern Port/ Harbor Limit boundary to a point being at 33° 52′ 10″ S - 137° 03′ 29.30″ E , then westerly along the southern Port/ Harbor Limit boundary to a point being at 33° 52′ 10″ S - 137° 01′ 13.20″ E, then northerly along the western Harbor Limit boundary to a point on the Medium High Water Mark at a point being 33° 42’ 47” S - 137° 02’ 07” E
Within the Port 2 x transhipment points have been established, these are TP5 and TP6 and have been declared as follows:
TP5 means a transhipment point in Spencer Gulf at, or in the vicinity of, latitude 33° 48' 00" - 137° 03' 00" E
TP6 means a transhipment point in Spencer Gulf at, or in the vicinity of, latitude 33° 50′ 30" S - 137° 02' 00" E
Vessels are prohibited from entering or remaining in waters within 0.5 nautical miles of a vessel (the loading vessel) while the loading vessel is, or is about to be, engaged in transhipping at TP5 or TP6. The distance referred to is to be measured from each point of the outer edge of the loading vessel or any anchor, buoy or other equipment deployed from the loading vessel.
