Welcome to the new locality of Parsons Beach

From Tuesday 5 September, residents living in the settlement of Parsons Beach within the rural locality of Minlaton will have their area name changed to Parsons Beach locality.

If you live within the boundary of Parsons Beach locality which is bordered by Parsons Beach Road, Mount Terrible Road, Watson Beach Road and the foreshore, your address may need to be changed and you may need to update some of your personal contacts. See our checklist below for suggested contacts.

Other location details such as council rates, Australia Post and emergency services will be updated by the State Government and your local council.

This locality naming will align residents and rate payers currently residing in the Parsons Beach settlement within the rural locality of Minlaton with the Yorke Peninsula Council.

This will provide improved access for amenities such as post and emergency services, and a feeling of being better connected to the Yorke Peninsula council.

Community consultation saw a vast majority of support for this change.


The naming of the locality of Parsons Beach comes into effect from Tuesday 5 September 2017.

The Surveyor General through the Geographical Names Unit, will update location and address details for the following organisations:

  • Australia Post
  • SA Police
  • SA Ambulance
  • Metropolitan Fire Service
  • Country Fire Service
  • Government suburb and post code database
  • Land’s Title Office
  • Location service providers

The Yorke Peninsula Council will update their database for rates and other council related correspondence.
