CTP insurance is now your choice
Thursday, 23 May 2019
From July 1, South Australians will get to choose their own Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance provider when they renew their vehicle’s registration.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that registration renewal notices for registration due on or after 1 July will include an updated section listing four South Australian Government-approved CTP insurers from which motor vehicle owners can choose.
The list will include a comparison of each insurer’s premium prices and their service rating (a measure of how people who have made a claim have rated the respective insurer’s service), to help motor vehicle owners make their choice.
To choose, motor vehicle owners just have to tick the box next to their desired CTP insurer and coverage period.
Once they have chosen their insurer and ticked the box, they pay for their registration and CTP insurance in one easy transaction.
The changes follow the introduction of a market-based CTP insurance model that has encouraged insurance providers to compete for business on price and service. Each insurer's policy coverage is identical and overseen by the independent South Australian CTP Insurance Regulator.
