New TTP Park ‘n’ Ride ready to rise
Thursday, 10 November 2022
Work is officially underway on the $43.5 million expansion of the Tea Tree Plaza Park ‘n’ Ride, which will increase capacity to about 1,200 car parks.
The first sod was turned on the construction site today, Thursday 10 November 2022, to officially mark the start of construction.
When complete, the new Park ‘n’ Ride will increase the number of parking spaces in the Tea Tree Plaza interchange precinct by 500, from the current 700 to a total of approximately 1,200.
The additional spaces will make public transport an even more attractive option for north-eastern suburbs commuters, making access to Adelaide’s public transport network easier and more convenient.
The new multi-storey car park will be built adjacent the existing Park ‘n’ Ride, and will consist of a ground floor and three upper levels. It will be accessed via a ramp connecting it to the existing Park ‘n’ Ride. This will provide commuters with a single entry and exit point.
Construction firm Built has been awarded the contract to design and build the Park ‘n’ Ride. Other projects undertaken by Built for the South Australian Government include the refurbishment of the Adelaide Railway Station façade and the Walker Festival Car Park (part of the Festival Plaza redevelopment).
The project will support approximately 215 full-time equivalent jobs per year during construction. Construction is due for completion in mid-2024.
