Sturt Highway detours in place for Paringa Causeway Bridge repairs
Friday, 7 October 2022
The Sturt Highway will be temporarily closed near Paringa with detours in place to facilitate repair works on the Paringa Causeway Bridge (the bridge closest to Renmark), from 5am on Monday, 17 October 2022, for approximately two weeks.
The repair works will include replacing a concrete bridge beam and reconstructing a section of the concrete bridge deck, asphalt road resurfacing and line marking. Once complete, the current speed restriction on the Paringa Causeway Bridge will be removed.
These works will ensure the ongoing structural integrity of the bridge for all road users. To safely undertake these works, the Sturt Highway will be closed at all times for the duration of the works with detours in place for all vehicles.
Works will be undertaken during the day, Monday to Saturday.
Light vehicles will be required to detour via Tolarno Street and Patey Drive, Renmark, while heavy vehicles (vehicles greater than 15 tonnes) will be required to detour via Kingston Road, Karoonda Highway, Bookpurnong Road and Stanitzki Road. See detour maps below.
Access to the Big 4 Renmark Riverfront Holiday Park, the Riverbend Caravan Park, other local businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.
Road users are asked to please plan ahead, observe speed limits and detours.
The Department appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are undertaken.
