Modified timetables for tram and bus services over Christmas and summer holidays
Thursday, 23 December 2021
Adelaide Metro advises that modified timetables for tram and some bus services will be in place over the festive and summer holiday period.
This will include modified timetables over both the Christmas/New Year’s period (25 December to 3 January) and the remainder of summer holidays (4 to 30 January 2022).
While tram and some bus services will be running less frequently, particularly over Christmas and the New Year period, there will still be plenty of services available for passengers across the network.
Trains will continue to operate to their normal timetable but will run with fewer carriages.
Additional bus, train and tram services will still be operating as planned for events at Adelaide Oval and on New Year’s Eve.
All public transport users are encouraged to regularly visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au to keep up to date with any changes to their service and to plan their journey ahead of time.
Services over the festive season - Christmas Day to New Year’s public holiday (25 December 2021 – 3 January 2022):
Every year bus and tram services are reduced over the Christmas/New Year period due to significantly lower than normal patronage, with up to 50 per cent fewer passengers during these days.
A festive season timetable will operate from Wednesday 29 December to Friday 31 December 2021, while usual public holiday and weekend timetables will apply on other dates over the Christmas and New Year period.
Summer holiday timetable from 4 – 30 January 2022:
From 4 January - 30 January 2022, a summer holiday timetable will be operating for tram and some bus services while public transport patronage is typically 20 per cent lower than other months.
This short period will support our service providers in managing their workforce and deliver a much-deserved break to drivers who have worked tirelessly to serve the community during a challenging time.
It will also assist with coordinating rosters to ensure services can quickly respond to potential impacts of drivers either contracting COVID-19 or being required to quarantine as a close or casual contact in accordance with SA Health requirements.
Help keep us all safe
Passengers are reminded to stay home if they are feeling unwell and to social distance where possible when using public transport.
Passengers are also still required to check-in using QR codes and wear face masks while on-board or waiting at a stop or station.
All public transport passengers, staff and the broader South Australian community are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated and continue to follow SA Health advice.
