Urban Design
More than a motorway, the T2D Project will deliver an outstanding urban design that:
- provides great journeys for everyone
- leaves a positive legacy of greener, connected communities where people want to live, work and visit.
What urban design is
Urban design shapes our suburbs and cities to meet the needs of the people who live, work and play in them.
On major infrastructure projects, good urban design should:
- deliver high-quality places for people that respond sensitively to their local area
- minimise impacts to surrounding communities.
Urban Design Strategy
The Urban Design Strategy guides good urban design, landscape and public realm outcomes for the T2D Project.
It was informed by:
- government policies and strategies
- local area analysis
- best practice project benchmarking
- community and stakeholder engagement.
This ensures project works:
- respond sensitively to their surrounds
- enhance local features
- complement the existing character of the area.
The strategy outlines an overarching urban design vision, urban design principles and objectives. This applies corridor-wide to all T2D Project works, regardless of their nature, scale or location.
These are supported by more detailed design requirements for specific locations and project elements to ensure a high-quality outcome.
Thank you for your feedback. The engagement period has ended, and the survey is closed.
