The TravelSMART program aims to influence a shift in personal transport behaviour in a way that reduces overall reliance on private vehicles - benefiting the householder (or their wider household) and helping them to make safer, greener and more active travel choices.
Between 2012 and 2014, the TravelSMART program was delivered to residents in the City of Prospect, and parts of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. Suburbs included:
Prospect | Fitzroy | Medindie Gardens |
---|---|---|
Nailsworth | Collinswood | Broadview |
Ovingham | Sefton Park | Thorngate |
Broadview | Sefton Park | Manningham |
---|---|---|
Northgate | Hampstead Gardens | Greenacres |
Hillcrest | Northfield | Oakden |
Klemzig | Windsor Gardens |
TravelSMART Conversationalists spoke directly with householders about their car use (or how they get around more generally) and worked collaboratively with them to identify ways they could reduce their car use - in a way that aligned with their values, improved their lifestyle in some way and benefited them at a household level.
Evaluation of the TravelSMART Households Inner North project was undertaken independently by the Institute of Transport Logistics and Studies and has been summarised in this document.
