Open space contributions

Open space contributions

Developers of new allotments are required to either provide open space within the development area or make a financial contribution in lieu of land. This is a requirement under the Development Act 1993. Contributions go into the Planning and Development Fund which provides grants to communities for developing public spaces.

Open space contributions are based on the following fees:

Metropolitan Adelaide: $7,253 for each additional allotment, community lot, strata lot or community strata lot delineated on the relevant plan that does not exceed one hectare in area

Outer Metropolitan Adelaide: $7,253 for each additional allotment, community lot, strata lot or community strata lot on the relevant plan that does not exceed one hectare in area

Regional South Australia: $2,912 for each additional allotment, community lot, strata lot or community strata lot delineated by the relevant plan that does not exceed one hectare in area.

Information on current contributions is in Part 9 of the Development Regulations 2008. Open space contributions can be paid through EDALA using 'Additional Fee Payment'.
