Project timing
Site investigations and early works have commenced and will continue as part of the detailed design process throughout 2024. Major construction is expected to commence in late 2024 and be completed in early 2026.
Will any vegetation and trees be removed as a result of the project?
There will be some impacts to trees and vegetation as a result of this upgrade however the project team is committed to reducing the impact through the detailed design process as much as possible. Existing vegetation, landscaping and the Boulevard of Honour are all being assessed and carefully considered. Please read our Vegetation Fact Sheet for more information.
Will the Boulevard of Honour be impacted by the project?
The project team are working closely with the City of West Torrens, RSL South Australia and interested parties to ensure any impacts are minimised and the boulevard and the people it honours are managed with respect and sensitivity.
RSL South Australia is pleased to have been engaged over this intersection upgrade and the respect and care shown in looking after the plaques that recognise local veterans.
Will there be opportunities to enhance the community spaces and landscaping in the area?
Community feedback will play a key role in informing the design of landscaping and the potential new public open spaces around the intersection. This will ensure the upgrade not only addresses the existing issues, but also creates a pleasant and welcoming environment for the community to enjoy.
A landscape and urban design plan will be developed as part of the detailed design process, with further community consultation to occur before the design is finalised.
How will noise from construction and after the project is completed be managed?
As part of the planning and design process, a noise assessment is being undertaken in accordance with the Department’s Road Traffic Noise Guidelines. Results of the assessment will be used to determine what, if any, and where noise mitigation treatments are appropriate.
Please be assured every effort is made by the Department and its construction contractors, to minimise impacts to local residents as much as practically possible.
Is property acquisition required for this project?
The Department wishes to minimise land acquisition and associated impacts on the community as much as practically possible, however a level of land acquisition is required to improve traffic flow and safety on these roads.
