River Road Junction Improvements

About the project

As committed in late 2023, we're upgrading these junctions to improve safety and access for all users:

Mount Barker Road with River Road
Strathalbyn Road with River Road.

Minor improvements are also being made at the junctions of River Road with Kangaroo Reef, Sawmill Gully and Fairview roads.

Our designs have been developed to deliver improved safety outcomes while also minimising the impacts on local businesses and residents.

Junctions along River Road, Hahndorf to Mylor.

What's happening

The main construction work for the project is expected to start from July 2025 and finish in late 2025, however some minor finishing works may continue until early 2026.

The works will include:

road widening
targeted road resurfacing
drainage
lighting upgrade
line marking
signage installation.

During construction, changes to access routes and temporary detours may be required at certain times.

To keep everyone safe during construction, traffic management measures such as lane closures and reduced speed limits may be in place during active work periods.

We will minimise disruptions wherever possible and thank you for your patience and understanding during these important works.
