Community Road Safety

Community road safety is based on the idea that people living in a particular community are best placed to know what the local road safety issues are. Most importantly, they know how to design possible solutions to road safety problems which are well tailored to the needs and expectations of their community.Community road safety groups can play an important role in creating a culture of road safety. They can take action so that the community is better informed, safer behaviours are encouraged, and neighbourhoods, shopping areas and community hubs are safer. They can influence decision makers to consider safety outcomes, for example in development proposals.

For further information about how communities can take action to create people-friendly streets and safer roads, including practical tools for planning and action visit the Living Neighbourhoods website.

Community Road Safety Groups

Community road safety groups are voluntary groups that initiate awareness of issues relating to road safety in their local areas. There are Community Road Safety Groups in metropolitan Adelaide and across South Australia.

If you are interested in forming a group contact or telephone (08) 8343 2644. You will be given access to the Community Road Safety Group website which includes information and advice on creating and maintaining an effective group.

Or you may wish to partner with or join an existing group or find out what they have been up to.  Community Road Safety groups are listed below.
