Recreational anglers have various information sources to help make the most of SA's rewarding fishing opportunities.
Downloading the SA Recreational Fishing Guide smartphone app is one of the best ways fishers can stay informed about fishing rules and regulations.
Free to download, the app allows fishers to search fishing limits, closure rules and gear restrictions and also have the ability to report suspicious or illegal fishing activity, as well as shark sightings.
It also has a mapping feature including all marine park sanctuary zones as well as existing fishing closures. On opening the mapping feature, users will be alerted when they are within a closed area.
Recreational fishers will also benefit from the presence of Fishcare Volunteers, who play a vital role in educating fishers on local rules and regulations.
The FISHCARE Volunteer program has more than 90 volunteers around the state who give their time during the busy holiday period to visit popular fishing spots and answer fishers' queries.
Information of fishing rules and regulations is also available on the 24 hour Fishwatch number 1800 065 522 or at www.pir.sa.gov.au/fisheries.
