28 June 2012
More than 120 visitors to the Adelaide Boat Show in June sat for the boat licence exam.
Only approximately 50 per cent passed, showing the need to know the regulations before taking the test.
Before taking the test the SA Recreational Boating Safety Handbook should be studied.
An online practice test is also available.
Department staff gave presentations on boat safety during the show and were available to answer questions.
The department will again have a stand at the next boat show in October [http://www.saboatshow.com.au/]
The licence test can be taken during business hours at Service SA outlets. The exam will cost $37 from 1 July 2012. A licence will cost $35.
