A new webcam overlooking the West Beach boat ramp and the waters to its south west has been installed in the tower at the Adelaide Sailing Club.
The high-definition camera gives a clear view of the ramp and the sea in the direction of Port Noarlunga.
The webcam is part of a growing network that makes it easier to assess conditions before getting the boat out,” Brian Hemming, Director, Transport Safety Regulation said.
“It’s very important to check the weather and sea conditions before heading out to sea," he said.
“In addition to checking weather forecasts, our webcams give a clear view of what is happening at the ramp and the nearby swell and tide movement without having to leave the house.”
In the next few months webcams will also be placed at North Haven and O'Sullivan Beach.
The West Beach camera
and existing cameras at Outer Harbor
and Granite Island
can be viewed on the department’s web cameras page.
