New national laws governing the practices of all commercial domestic boats within Australian waters have come into effect from 1 July 2013.
The new National Commercial Marine Law will make it easier for seafarers and their domestic commercial vessels to move around Australia’s waters.
The law is being implemented by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).
The South Australian Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure will still be arranging mariner certificates of competency, survey and operations, but will now do so on behalf of AMSA.
