Failing to register a powered boat and not carrying simple but essential safety gear has cost a Murray Bridge resident $540.
The owner of the 1.8 metre fishing boat was approached by Transport Safety Compliance officers on New Year’s Day while on the water in Wallaroo Bay.
The vessel was found to be unregistered, unmarked and not carrying required safety gear, including a fire extinguisher, paddles and operating torch.
He was issued with expiation notices but chose not to pay and elected to have the matters heard in court.
On 23 July 2013 the offender entered a written guilty plea in Port Pirie Magistrates Court and was fined $540 plus costs.
