13 October 2018
Major works for the City Tram Extension Project are complete with passenger tram services commencing today on the new track.
To view the new Tram timetable visit https://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/Announcements/Planned-Disruptions/New-tram-services-now-operating.
The City Tram Extension Project has delivered a one kilometre extension of the tram line along North Terrace, from King William Street to East Terrace, and a 350 metre extension north along King William Road to the Festival Plaza Precinct.
The extension features four new stops, one on King William Road servicing the Festival Plaza and three new stops along North Terrace servicing the museum and library precinct, universities and the Old Royal Adelaide Hospital Site.
Additionally the previous West Terrace Tram Stop has been renamed to ‘Royal Adelaide Hospital’.
This extension will provide frequent services between the East End and the new Royal Adelaide Hospital, SAHMRI, Adelaide Railway Station, Adelaide Convention Centre and the new Adelaide Festival Plaza.
Some finishing works are required and will be conducted to minimise disruption to commuters where possible.
