Movember - This is the month of the Mo's and we are raising awareness of men's health

This month is the month of the Mo’s.

At DPTI there is nothing more important than our workers health and safety.

This month we are raising awareness of men’s health issues by talking about the month of Movember.    

Many men willing to grow their Mo this Movember will play a significant part in stopping men dying too young – your face can inspire donations, conversations and real change.  

The funds raised will stop our sons, partners, brothers, fathers and friends from dying too young.

All year round The Movember Foundation works to tackle men’s health on a Global scale, addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

DPTI identifies that men’s health is more than physical but very importantly mental health. We understand that often men need more prompting to have conversations or come forward to seek help.

3 million Australians are living with depression or anxiety.
In Australia there are approx. 3,000 suicides each year. 75% are by men – with an average of six out of every eight each day, nearly double the national road toll.
On average 1 in 8 men will have depression and 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety at some stage of their lives, however only 1 in 4 men who experience anxiety or depression seek help.

On the Physical side of men’s health the rate of prostate cancer is rising:

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men killing hundreds of thousands of men each year, and those who survive face serious side effects.
Prostate cancer kills 45 men every hour.
By 2030 there’ll be 1.7 million men living with prostate cancer.

We are encouraging everyone to support men’s health this Movember by raising awareness and funds to help reduce the number of men dying prematurely.

Some of our male colleagues at DPTI are taking on Movember by growing moustaches for the month of November.

If you know someone who is growing a Mo, ask them why they are choosing to do Movember – it might inspire you to follow the cause and support their journey!

Move Movember

However you don’t have to grow a moustache to help with men’s health this Movember.

The Movember Foundation challenges you to Move instead.

Set a distance goal and move towards it. You can walk, run, swim, or cycle – solo or in a team, supporting men’s health by raising funds along the way.  

Anyone, anywhere can go the distance to support men's health. Challenge yourself this month and MOVE into Movember!   

This Movember be the difference in a man’s life and let your Mo grow – or support a man growing his Mo.
