Community Grants for safer, greener and more active travel now open
31 July 2017
South Australian community groups and organisations interested in encouraging safer and more active personal transport options are invited to apply for Community Grants.
Each year a total of $100,000 is provided by the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) in conjunction with the Motor Accident Commission (MAC) to support small scale projects that improve road safety, encourage smart use of cars, and provide alternative modes of transport to driving.
Successful projects achieve cost and time savings for participants’ wellbeing and benefits for the community.
The Department received strong applications for last round’s grants with standout initiatives including technology enhancements that remove the need for travel, and projects that encourage bike riding as an alternative to driving for some journeys.
Over $40,000 in Community Grants were awarded last round in April 2017.
Applications open today, Monday 31 July 2017 and close on Sunday 10 September 2017.
For more information about the funding criteria or to apply, visit www.dpti.sa.gov.au/communitygrants or call (08) 8343 2644.
