Distinctive number plates put up for auction
4 May 2017
The State Government is auctioning 150 distinctive number plates following interest from the public in the numeric plates.
Of the 150 plates to be offered up for auction this time, 98% of them have been the subject of a request by the member of the public.
These auctions are particularly popular for collectors, investors and car enthusiasts who are looking for a unique or significant number plate for their vehicle.
The rare plates feature three, four, five or six white numbers on a black background and were the first type of plates to be issued in South Australia from 1906 to 1966.
The plates are only offered through auction and include the original numeric series.
The online auction will commence at 1:00pm AEST on Monday 1 May to 7:30pm AEST on Monday 8 May.
Bidders must be registered to place a bid. Registrations can be made at www.graysonline.com.

This is just one of the ways we are helping South Australian car enthusiasts enjoy their hobby, together with other initiatives such as our planned changes to the conditional registration scheme.
