Notice to Mariners No 5 of 2017

Section 67(2) - Harbors and Navigation Act 1993

Under s 11(1) Harbors and Navigation Act 1993 (“the Act”), pursuant to section 67(2) of the Act,

Mariners are advised of the following:

Vessels and any other water traffic be prohibited from navigating beneath or within 40 metres on either side of the Great Western Bridge, Port Augusta, South Australia, as a consequence of the dangers of collapse of the bridge into the waters.

This area of prohibited waters is closed to all persons and vessels until the area is deemed safe for navigation and this Ministerial Direction is withdrawn.

Only persons and vessels with approval of the Minister or delegate, on application, be permitted to enter the area of waters.

Mariners are advised to exercise caution in the vicinity.
