Safety improvement upgrade at the Angle Vale Road intersection with Curtis Road and McGee Road

CONNECT - Message from the Chief Executive

7 April 2017

Safety will soon be improved at the Angle Vale Road intersection with Curtis Road and McGee Road at Penfield Gardens.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that the project involves the realignment of Curtis Road further west to create a staggered T-junction which will reduce the risk of right angle crashes at this location.

The upgrade will also include:

  • Installation of a sheltered right-turn lane on Angle Vale Road for traffic turning into Curtis Road.
  • Upgraded lighting at the new Angle Vale Road junction with Curtis Road.
  • Asphalt resurfacing and new pavement marking.

Works are scheduled to commence on Monday, 10 April 2017 and expected to be completed by June 2017, weather permitting.

The works will be undertaken between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Both roads will remain open to traffic with a 25 km/h speed restriction in place while workers are on site. Lane and other speed restrictions may apply subject to on site conditions.

DPTI will make every effort to minimise impacts to road users and will ensure that access to properties will be maintained throughout the works.

This $2.14 million project is jointly funded with the Australian Government contributing $2 million through the Black Spot Programme and $140 000 from the South Australian Government’s Asset Improvement Program.

For further information, please email DPTI at or telephone 1300 794 880.

DPTI thanks road users for their patience while these important safety works are undertaken.
