Safety to be improved on the Goyder Highway at the intersection with RM Williams Way
30 January 2017
Safety for motorists will soon be improved on the Goyder Highway approach to the intersection with RM Williams Way / Hacklins Corner Road at Spalding, with works commencing today.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that the works include shoulder sealing, the installation of safety barrier and delineation improvements including edge lines, retro-reflective raised pavement markers and a painted median with safety bars.
These safety improvements will be undertaken on the Goyder Highway approach to the intersection to reduce the risk of motorists failing to give way to traffic on RM Williams Way.
Sealed shoulders, together with the installation of safety barriers will also improve safety for motorists by reducing the risk of ‘run-off road’ type crashes and protecting road users from roadside hazards, thereby minimising the severity of vehicle accident injury and property damage.
DPTI will make every effort to minimise the impact on road users. The work will be undertaken between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Saturday.
The road will remain open, with traffic restricted to one lane under traffic control including a 25 km/h speed restriction while workers are on site. Other speed restrictions may apply subject to onsite conditions.
The works will commence on 30 January 2017 and are expected to be completed by June 2017, weather permitting.
The $150 000 safety initiative is funded under the State Government’s Asset Improvement Program.
DPTI thanks motorists for their patience while these important works are carried out.
