South Road closed between Cross Road and Anzac Highway
18 January 2017
South Road will remain closed between Cross Road and Anzac Highway during the afternoon peak due to a structural issue with the bikeway attached to the South Road Tram Overpass.
To ensure the safety of the public, South Road will not be reopened until the bikeway structure is deemed safe by an independent bridge expert. This closure is likely to continue tomorrow, Thursday 19 January 2017, with further updates to come.
Traffic controllers are on site, and access to businesses and residents will be granted. However, no one will be permitted to travel under the overpass.
Adelaide Metro tram services are operating as normal, with a speed reduction over the overpass.
Stop 6 South Road (on top of the overpass) will not be serviced. Passengers are advised to use Stop 7 Glandore or Stop 5 Black Forest, or seek alternate transport.
The Mike Turtur Bikeway will also remain closed.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
