DPTI proud to support White Ribbon Day

24 November 2016

As a White Ribbon Accredited Workplace we are proud to support International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, also known as White Ribbon Day, on Friday 25 November 2016.

The White Ribbon campaign is the largest global male-led movement to stop violence against women, but we acknowledge that men’s violence against women is everyone's issue. That’s why as a department we are taking active steps to prevent violence by changing the attitudes and behaviours that fuel gender inequality and men’s violence against women.

Michael Burdett, Surveyor-General and the Manager of Legislation for DPTI, is our White Ribbon Sponsor, below he speaks on why he has taken a stand on this important issue and how you can help:

Prevention of violence in the workplace starts with creating an organisational culture of gender equality, promotion of respectful relationships and increasing awareness of the issue of violence against women and its impacts.

We encourage our people and the broader community to be proactive speaking out against violence, and making visible their commitment to a violence-free workplace.

There are a number of ways to get involved and show your support, find out more about the White Ribbon campaign at
