DPTI Media Alert - change of speed limit on Princes Highway at Hatherleigh

CONNECT - Message from the Chief Executive

2 November 2016

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises motorists that the speed limit on a portion of the Princes Highway at Hatherleigh has been reduced from 110km/h to 80km/h from today, Wednesday 2 November 2016.

Yellow ‘speed limit changed’ signs will also be installed for 30 days to advise drivers of the change.

The change in speed limit will apply to a 2.1km stretch of the Princes Highway from approximately 300m northwest of Braham Road to just north of Second Street.

The Wattle Range District Council wrote to DPTI requesting a review of the speed limit on the Princes Highway through Hatherleigh following receipt of a petition from a local Hatherleigh resident and a crash at the main intersection in Hatherleigh.

This change in speed limit aims to provide road safety benefits and amenity for all road users.

DPTI will monitor the operation of the road following the installation of new speed limit signs.
