DPTI Media Alert - Traffic switch to new East Terrace alignment between Grenfell Street and Bartels Road, O-Bahn City Access Project

CONNECT - Message from the Chief Executive

25 August 2016

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises motorists that during the afternoon of Sunday 28 August 2016 traffic will be switched to the new alignment of East Terrace between Grenfell Street and Pirie Street/Bartels Road.

Traffic controllers will be in place to direct traffic to the new alignment. Restrictions will be in place and please follow directions from the traffic controllers to ensure the safety of workers and motorists.

Following the traffic switch, Stage 3 of the works will commence on Monday 29 August 2016, and are expected to take 5 to 7 days to complete, weather permitting. Works are being undertaken between 7am and 6pm Monday to Saturday.

During Stage 3 works, the southbound lanes on East Terrace will be reduced to one lane through the intersection of East Terrace and Grenfell Street. The left turn slip lane from East Terrace to Bartels Road will be closed, however left turns will still be permitted at the intersection.

Final road asphalt surfacing and lighting is expected to take place in the last quarter of 2016.

Motorists and road users are requested to take extra care when workers are on site and observe traffic signage and speed restrictions when travelling through the area.

DPTI thanks motorists for their patience while these important works are carried out.
